Conditional 0

If+present simple | present simple ... sth that is always true ... If it rains, the roads get slippery

Conditional 1

If+present... | future/can/may/imperative/should/could + bare infinitive ... real or very possible situations now or in the future ... if we work hard, we'll finish

Conditional 2

if+past s/c | would/might/could + bare infinitive ... unlikely to happen, contrary facts, in present or future, give advice ... if i didn't have to work, i wouldn't be tired

Conditional 3

if+past p/pc | would/could/might + perfect bare infinitive (have made) ... imaginary past situations-contrary facts, regrets and criticism... if i had been more careful, i wouldnt have made mistake

Mixed Cond. 2+3

If+past simple | would have +past participle ... if he was less famous, he would have gone out dancing

Mixed Cond. 3+2

If+past perfect | would+verb ... if he hadn't played the part in the movie, he wouldn't be rich

Mixed Cond. 2+1

If+past simple | future, may/can... + bare infinitive ... If she got back late last night, she won't come to work

Instead of IF

imagine\suppose (you were getting married) ... provided/providing (you pay me back) ... unless (it was necessary)

Inversion

If they had followed -> had they followed ... if they had called -> had they not called

wish/if only + past simple/cont.

we'd like sth to be different in the present ... i wish i didn't have to pass this exam

wish/if only + past perfect

regrets about sth happened or not in the past ... if only i hadn't stolen this car

wish/if only + would

polite imperative/desire for a situation change or someone's behaviour... if only he wouldn't give me so much work

Had better + bare infinitive

give advice, best thing to do ... you had better book your flight early

Would rather - same subject

(present/future) i'd rather do my shopping ... (past) i'd rather not have gone to the party

Would rather - different subject

(present/future) i'd rather Kate stayed with us ... (past) i'd rather Sam hadn't taken his father's car

Prefer

I prefer: playing ... to playing... ||| to eat ... rather than eat ... ||| sth to sth ||| i'd prefer to have ... rather than have...
